Job Title: Per Diem Kitchen Hand
Pay Rate: $19 per hour
Location: San Moritz Lodge
Position Type: Per Diem, (On-Call/As Needed/About 8-16 hours per month)
Contract Term: April – June 2026, with potential renewal for July 2026 – June 2027 (Depending on budget, performance, and operational needs)
Position Summary
The Kitchen Hand supports daily kitchen operations at San Moritz Lodge by maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in accordance with California Retail Food Code (CRFC) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards. This role is essential to ensuring food safety, efficient meal service, and a positive dining experience for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and food preparation equipment
Operate commercial dishwashing equipment in compliance with sanitation standards
Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, workstations, and equipment
Follow established daily cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures
Support proper food storage practices, including labeling, dating, and rotation (FIFO)
Maintain cleanliness and organization of refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas
Safely dispose of trash and recycling in accordance with health regulations
Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing deliveries
Support meal service, including portioning and tray assembly under supervision
Ensure adequate stocking and proper use of single-service items
Maintain compliance with CRFC and HACCP food safety standards
Identify and report maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns promptly
Follow all emergency and workplace safety procedures
Uphold high standards of personal hygiene and safe food handling
Assist with cleaning dining and service areas as needed
Support safe packaging of meals for transport or distribution
Perform additional duties as assigned to support kitchen operations
Maintain strict adherence to all policies outlined in the CFSCC Employee Handbook
Required Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to follow detailed instructions, schedules, and procedures
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Safe and effective use of kitchen and cleaning equipment
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Professional, respectful, and service-oriented demeanor
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Previous kitchen, food service, or janitorial experience (preferred, not required)
Valid San Bernardino County Food Handler Certification (required)
Ability to comply with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Successful completion of background screening (if required)
